Meet the F1 Academy drivers: Chloe Chambers’ inspirational story

Source: f1academy.com

F1 Academy and Haas junior driver Chloe Chambers recently made history by becoming the first Haas driver to earn a podium when she received P3 in her home-race in Miami. Chambers is also a world record holder after setting a time of 47.45 seconds when driving a Porsche 718 Spyder in 2020 - becoming one of the youngest achievers in the record books. However, like everyone, Chambers’ story is not without hardship.

Originally from Guangdong, China the 19-year-old American was adopted by Matthew and Shannon Chambers at the tender age of 1 and moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA. Chambers began her racing career at the age of eight, and won multiple regional and national championships throughout a nine year span.

In 2021, Chambers made her single-seater debut in the F4 US Championship with Future Stars Racing, finishing 26th. Later that year, Chambers fought tooth and nail to earn her seat in the all-female racing series W Series with Jenner Racing, the then-17-year-old participated in two gruelling testing sessions in her hometown Indiana as well as Barcelona. She was partnered alongside reigning champion Jamie Chadwick and finished 16th in the 2022 season with one point.

History-maker

In 2023, Chambers made history by becoming the first female to earn pole position and win in the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Championship in New Zealand. She also finished sixth in the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America series after claiming seven wins and eigh podiums. Later that year, Chambers was invited to participate in the F3 test in Magny Cours, France.

2024 was a historic year for Chambers as she became the first Haas driver to earn a podium after picking up a P3 finish at the Miami Grand Prix in early May during Race 1 of the F1 Academy round 2 weekend. She further made history by becoming the first female to join A14 Management - a driver academy program founded by F1 champion Fernando Alonso.

Chambers now sits in fourth in the championship, 11 points behind Ferrari’s Maya Weug, with five rounds left to go. It will be very interesting to see how Chambers will progress throughout the years with strong support systems in place.
