Pierre Gasly Grandstand In Barcelona Review

Here's a short review of the Spanish Grand Prix written by a fan Lucie! Thank you Lucie for sharing your experience with us!

Grandstand prices

I attended the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend - my first time at a race! Thought I’d do a little post with my thoughts / tips.

We booked this trip very last minute as tickets for the Pierre Gasly grandstand were reduced (half price) which it made it much more affordable! We paid £199 for grand stand M for the weekend.

Accommodation

We decided to stay close to El Prat airport - for quickness on our first day (we couldn’t fly until Saturday morning) and the price was about half of the central hotels. This actually worked out ok  of the direct train from El Prat to Montmeló (R2/R2N trains). Next time I think I’d stay somewhere more central but close to one of the stations on this line!

Once off the train it’s about 30-40 minute walk to the circuit. The latter part is uphill so make sure you wear comfy shoes!

I had read lots about issues with the 2022 Grand Prix, especially chaos with trains getting home after.

Saturday we decided to stay at the circuit for an hour after quali before heading to the train station, once there we waited about 30 mins to board a train.

The race day

On race day we got a train to the circuit at 8.30 and had arrived by 9.55 just as the f3 was starting. After the race we left right away (before the podium), waiting 1 hour in a queue for the train which IMO is not bad considering last year some people waited 3 hours. The train and queuing system was well managed, and I would defo consider coming again as felt the access was good!

We absolutely loved being in the Pierre Gasly grandstand. During the drivers parade he stopped and came to shoot signed T-shirts into the crowd. It was great to see this and the atmosphere in the grandstand was amazing!

We had seats in the 5th row over-looking turn 5, which meant we saw some of the quali action with Checo and Albon ending up in the gravel!

The support for Sainz and Alonso here was amazing to see, and made the atmosphere electric.

I can only hope the Brits do the same for Lewis at Silverstone next month (we have Sunday tickets).
