Pulling Wins Jeddah Race 2 After Pin’s Post-Race Penalty
Abbi Pulling from Rodin Motorsport won Race 2 at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in the F1 Academy. Following a post-race penalty for Doriane Pin, Pulling was promoted to first place.
Let’s recap.
Following the opening round's race in Jeddah, penalties have been handed out to three competitors for infractions incurred during the event.
Doriane Pin faced a unique penalty after she passed the finish line twice, continuing at race pace until a Red Flag was displayed. Since the race had ended, a traditional drive-through penalty couldn't be applied. Instead, a 20-second penalty was added to her final race time for the infraction.
A different violation saw Amna Al Qubaisi receive a five-second penalty for leaving the track limits and gaining an unfair advantage over her competitors. This occurred when she went beyond the boundaries at Turn 22 in an attempt to overtake Aurelia Nobels, then shortcutting the inside of Turn 23 to complete the overtaking maneuver.
This reshuffle in standings has led to Alpine's Abbi Pulling being declared the race winner, with Ferrari's Maya Weug moving into second place. Nerea Martí, associated with Tommy Hilfiger, now finds herself on the podium. Following in the rankings are Jessica Edgar in fifth, ahead of Hamda Al Qubaisi, Bianca Bustamante, and Carrie Schreiner. With the penalty adjustments, Amna Al Qubaisi falls to eighth position, Doriane Pin to ninth, and Chloe Chambers rounds out the top ten point earners.
Additionally, Lola Lovinfosse received a penalty for the next race, a five-place grid drop, after being deemed solely responsible for a collision with Lia Block during the race's first turn. This decision reflects the stewards' commitment to maintaining fair play and safety standards in the series.
