FanAmp and Pit Lane Magazine have teamed up to provide comprehensive guides for Formula 1 and motorsport fans. We want to help you learn how to fan!

It’s time to talk about the most important part of attending a Grand Prix weekend! Buying the tickets that will actually get you in! With events this large, there are numerous options to purchase entry from standard GA or Grandstand tickets to Paddock access, to premium hospitality, and even race weekend full service experiences. Let’s break down your options!

Standard Tickets

The tickets that you will find on standard ticketing websites are generally general admission (if the track offers it) and Grandstand tickets. Most tracks will also allow F1 fans to purchase single day tickets (in the same or different sections) as well as 3-day passes. There are MANY sites that sell race tickets but here are the two best and safest options that are surefire ways to safely purchase tickets.

Standard Ticket Types

General admission tickets will often grant you access to the entire circuit that is not a grandstand, hospitality, or private area (such as the paddock), but you are not guaranteed a good view. For example, at the United States Grand Prix (COTA), there are vantage points all over the track, but the Turn 1 hill is the most popular and is often completely filled HOURS before the race.

Grandstand tickets will often grant you access to the entire circuit as well as your designated seats. There are some tracks on the calendar (such as the Mexican GP) that do not have general admission at all, and the grandstand you select will limit you to ONE zone of the track. When you’re purchasing be sure to check the circuit map so that you are aware of any zone limitations.

Standard Track Offerings for Ticket Holders

Most if not all tracks around the world will offer paid concessions, merchandise, and activity stations around the track. While you are not offered any of these luxuries for free- unlike full service and premium race experience packages- regardless of your ticket type you will have access to purchase food and water, use the restrooms, purchase merch, and participate in any activities around the track or in your section. One tip is to bring a refillable water bottle, as many tracks offer free filling stations.

**NOTE that the Las Vegas Grand Prix includes free concessions with every ticket purchase for every grandstand and general admission, this is a unique offering.**

Track and Circuit Websites

As with most event venues around the world, track and circuit websites will offer all of the standard ticket options that are available around the circuit. However, where Formula 1 circuits differ from a standard event venue is that tracks can span well over 4 miles (7km) in length with many twists, turns, hills, and valleys - even in highly populated urban areas (Monaco and Las Vegas for example). That being said, make sure you KNOW what you are buying, what your vantage point will be, and what path to take to your destination. Track and circuit websites often do a good job of allowing you to navigate their circuit maps and show vantage points of grandstands.

However, as with any official and direct ticket vendor, tickets will sell out very quickly as most people will purchase directly from the track. So, follow the tracks on social media and sign up for their newsletters and email updates in order to be first in line when tickets drop.

FanAmp and P1 Travel

If you’re not certain that you want to attend a grand prix but want to secure tickets on your own time without chancing long virtual lines on circuit websites, download FanAmp

At FanAmp we have partnered with P1 Travel to offer a seamless ticket purchasing experience to fans without the stress or uncertainty of purchasing tickets from unverified vendors or resellers for all 24 races on the 2024 F1 Calendar. You can purchase tickets for every race directly in FanAmp through P1 Travel and save them to your FanAmp wallet (that can be accessed offline and is extremely useful for tracks with limited internet service).

Reselling

Reselling tickets is a dangerous game no matter what website you use and how many times you have used it. There are countless websites around the world that offer ‘safe’ and ‘secured’ ticket buying experiences, but there are always buyers that slip through the cracks.

Some examples of ‘safe’ ticket selling websites include:

  1. Stubhub

  2. Seatgeek

  3. Goo Tickets

  4. Motorsport Tickets

Please keep in mind that although these websites employ checks and balances, F1 races are in VERY high demand, and scammers are rampant. Even your trusty author of this article has purchased a fake ticket from a reseller for a grand prix. These sites will offer protections including refunds, but that does not mean that your ticket will be replaced.

The other reselling option is directly through other people. There are many groups on Facebook and other social media platforms with many people who are just unable to make it and need to get the ticket off their hands. As someone who has purchased many resale tickets before, here is my guide to avoid being scammed:

  • Check the profile of the seller to ensure they’re not a bot or fake account

    1. Ensure they do not have a NEW profile (i.e. created in the last 6-8 months)

    2. Check their public information if possible and look for red flags. Really anything that feels off, like all of their friends or connections are named “John Smith” “Sally Walter” and generic names that could also be fake accounts

  • If someone is unwilling to publicly post their selling price, it is likely a fake ticket

  • Check the comments under a post - the community will call out scammers!

  • Once you have begun communication with a seller, have them screen share or take a video that includes the date or time and navigates directly to the tickets without any breaks.

  • When sending money ONLY USE PAYPAL GOODS AND SERVICES. Paypal is a global company that serves nearly every country, so everyone should have access to it. Goods and services may take a small service fee out, BUT it is the only surefire way to get your money back if you are scammed. Paypal has amazing customer service.

    1. Choose a time and day that you can exchange the money and ticket simultaneously. If it takes longer than 15 minutes on either end, it’s a scam.

  • Lastly, NEVER, agree to an in person exchange unless you know and trust the seller.

Full Service Experiences

Full service experiences differ dramatically from standard track tickets and often offer packages that extend far beyond the actual race days. These packages are priced extremely high, but if you are a traveler and F1 Fan that wants the VIP treatment that includes hotel stays, excursions, and so much more (including your tickets) here are some options!

Off to the Races is a full service experience who has partnered with FanAmp for the 2024 season and beyond. Their packages are absolutely one of a kind- designed specifically with the female fan in mind (although all are absolutely welcome).

Off to the Races offers packages for the Spanish Grand Prix, British Grand Prix (Silverstone), Dutch Grand Prix (Zandvoort), and Mexican Grand Prix priced at about €2,950 ($3200 USD) per person. These packages are much more expensive than your standard ticket, but come with much more than a seat. Let’s break down what those weekends entail:

  • 3 Nights at a 4 Star + Hotel

  • Complimentary Daily Breakfast

  • Welcome Night Cocktail Party

  • Luxury transfers to and from the race circuit (Sat & Sun)

  • Access to complimentary trackside hospitality

  • Numbered seat in a premium grandstand (3 Days)

  • Activities to highlight the host city and its culture including tours, museums, private reservations at top restaurants, fitness classes, and spa treatments.

…. pretty worth it if you ask me!

**As with P1 Travel, you can also purchase your Off to the Races packages through FanAmp in the App or on our website.

Hotel and Track Partners

During certain race weekends, hotels and track partners will offer premium stay packages that include hotel stay, food and beverage credit, shopping credit, and premium seats on the track. There are numerous options that come at a hefty price at races such as the Monaco Grand Prix and the Las Vegas Grand Prix. If you’re looking at attending these races, check out hotel websites that are on the track for details regarding these packages.

During the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, the FanAmp team was able to experience one such offering with Ellis Island Casino. A ticket to this experience included unlimited food, unlimited drinks, indoor and outdoor views of the race, live music, and entertainment. The hotel also offered packages that included a hotel room. Check out our full experience at Ellis Island during the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

**Note that most of these packages can cost thousands of dollars for a small group.**

F1 Experiences

F1 Experiences is the most common vendor of both premium race experiences and full service experiences. They are an official vendor of Formula 1 and can offer you a front row seat to all of the action… at a cost.

F1 Experiences packages vary from premium seating, to their signature trackside hospitality suite ‘Champions Club’, Paddock Club access, and full hospitality + hotel packages. These packages also include varying experiences such as a pit lane walk, access to team hospitality and garages, appearances by F1 drivers and team principals, high quality catering, and behind the scenes tours. While some options are ‘full service’ there are often large groups of F1 fans who purchase these tickets, so 1:1 service and catering rarely occurs as opposed to other full service offerings. That being said, packages range from $1,000 USD per person to $20,000 USD per person depending on the package selected and race that you are attending.

Premium Race Experiences

Premium race experiences differ slightly from full service experiences but are often some of the most sought after grand prix tickets. While your hotel and other luxuries may not be included, the level of access, service and proximity to the action makes these options very worthwhile for the diehard Formula 1 fan.

Local Hospitality Packages

Many tracks on the Formula 1 calendar offer their own versions of premium grandstands, boxes, and suites that are purchased directly through the circuit. Most of these seating locations are not inside the paddock area and do not have access to the team garages/ paddock building, BUT they offer the same level of luxury at different vantage points around the track.

As an example, the Canadian Grand Prix offers 3 premium race experiences through the circuit itself. The Elite Restaurant, the Senna Club, and the Podium Club all offer full meals inside the restaurant, reserved grandstand seats/ or viewing from the club deck, shuttle service off the track, and souvenirs.

Track Hospitality Packages vary in cost but are on average $1,500 - $3,500+ USD for the weekend. These tickets can be purchased through the the F1 Hospitality website

Paddock Club

The Paddock Club is likely the most popular premium race experience for Formula 1 Fans. Sold directly through F1 itself and with standardized offerings across nearly all of the tracks on the calendar, these tickets are a staple for race-goers looking to spend some money on their race experience.

The Paddock Club is located in the paddock building on Pit Lane - which for most circuits means it’s above or adjacent to the team garages. Each ticket offers the Aramco F1 Pit Lane Walk (between sessions), interviews with current and past F1 drivers in an intimate space, track tours before and after the race, as well as premium (and unlimited) food and beverage.

Paddock Club generally costs between $6,000 - $12,000 for 3-day packages, but can be sold as 1 day experiences for a lower cost.

Team Hospitality Packages

The holy grail of ticket packages comes in the form of team hospitality. Every team on the grid will allow you to live a race weekend amongst the team and drivers at a hefty cost. You are quite literally the closest you’ll ever be to the action with these packages.

Although every team offers these hospitality packages, the cost varies depending on the success and popularity of the team. For example, a Haas or Team Stake hospitality package will cost approximately $9,000 - $10,000 for the weekend while teams such as Ferrari, Mclaren, and Redbull may charge up to $20,000 for the weekend.

However, the cost may be worth the investment because with these tickets you will get the standard premium food, drink, vantage point and service, AS WELL AS private tours of the team garages and meet and greets with the drivers (!!!). Some races and teams even offer packages that include watching the race or qualifying from inside the garage. These tickets are all sold on separate track or team websites.
